Today Ayane had her 2 month check-up with Dr. Tracy. Wow, it’s been two months already since she was born, time sure flies. This morning Ayane weighed in at 11.3 lbs (70th percentile), her head is 15 3/4 ins (75th percentile) and she is 23 3/4 ins long (90th percentile). Imagine, her weight just a month ago was in the 25th percentile, so between then and now she has really grown. Anyway, with the two month check-up comes the dreaded beginning of vaccinations. This morning she received 5 shots and 1 oral vaccination.
Here’s a list of what she received today:
Rotavirus – Orally
Hepatitis B
Polio Vaccine
Diptheria Tetanus & Pertussis
Haemophilus Influenza Type b
Pneumoccoccal Conjugate
Ya, the poor kid had 5 shots. 3 in one thigh and two in the other. If you look over in the right hand column you can view a video of the entire procedure that I captured with my trusty iPhone. She was a real trooper and really didn’t cry that much, although her cries did get louder with each shot she was given. Dr. Tracy was great with her and us and really made me feel as if we made the right choice in Pediatricians.
Once we got Ayane home, she slept for most of the rest of the day. She was a little fussy…but all-in-all, she handled it all pretty well.
Here are a couple of shots of her shot up thighs.
It was really hard seeing her get shot up and hearing the painful cries she let out, you wish you were the one taking the pain instead of her. However, it’s a necessary evil and everyone will be glad she received them down the road as she remains healthy because of them.
